Hello!
My name is Sherrie and I am based on the South Coast of Hampshire in the lovely little village of Lee on the Solent. I've lived here since 1991 after moving from the Midlands. I love the sea, and as a child, knew I would end up living by the sea. The sea is an inspiration for a lot of my paintings, and you will see quite a few 'seascapes' or 'bluescapes' in my paintings for sale. Nothing beats a walk along the seafront whatever the weather for some kind of inspiration or motivation. My other favourite areas are Devon & Cornwall, and love spending time in these areas too. I've always loved art, in all kind of forms, and finally decided to take art more seriously after the 2020 pandemic when the situation forced me to spend some time doing something other than work! During this time, I took up charcoal/pencil/graphite realism drawings, which then turned to coloured pencils and eventually paints! As soon as I picked up a brush, I knew I was hooked!
Acrylic paints are very versatile and forgiving, and allow the user to do so many different things on paper, canvas, wood, plastic and many more things you might want to paint on! My paintings are built up in layers, and very rarely finished in one sitting. They usually have around 5-6 layers as a minimum, sometimes more!
I can't say I have a particular style or 'tell' to my paintings. I will just see something, and go 'that will make a great painting'. Usually from a photo I have taken, or somewhere i've been where the scenery has captured me.
I also have a love of animals, and own a cat only pet sitting business in my area. Between cats & painting and family, I am kept busy.

I am completely self-taught, but always guided by other works of art. I regularly attend art classes, watch youtube videos and do some online courses too. If you would like me to do a commission for you, then please do contact me and I will let you know if it's within my possibilities as well as an idea of price.
All my paintings that are available to buy can be seen on this website. They all come signed, with my initials on the front, and back, as well as a signed 'certificate of Authenticity' including a certificate number that is unique to the particular picture and catalogued.
